Acer ships Timeline CULV notebooks for workers

Acer TravelMate Timeline series kicks off


Acer chose a last-minute introduction for its first ever pro-focused CULV notebooks and today launched the 8371, 8471 and 8571 all emphasize relatively high speed and battery life with Core 2 Duos and as much as 8 hours of battery life even as they measure just over 1.1 inches thick. Acer also claims a relatively light weight of 3.5 pounds even for the largest systems.

The larger 14-inch 8471 and 15.6-inch 8571 are actually the least expensive systems and at $899 both have a 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo, 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a DVD burner and a 32-bit version of Windows 7 Professional accompanied by an optional Windows XP Professional disc. The 13.3-inch 8371 is slightly more expensive at $919, but it gets a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM and a 320GB drive. Adding these features to the 8471 and 8571 raises their prices to $999.

All models have a multi-touch trackpad, HDMI output, a multi-format card reader and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Acer is shipping the new TravelMates as of today.
