Fleximus would have detachable body
Optimus Maximus creator Art Lebedev Studio on Tuesday showed a new camera design that promises to rethink the traditional box-shaped body. The Fleximus could work solely as a goose neck with a lens and sensor at one end and a small viewfinder at the other. That eyepiece could be detached and replaced with a full-sized preview LCD and basic controls.
It's not clear that the Russian designers necessarily plan to turn the camera into a production device. The studio is known to translate some of its concepts into usable hardware if technically feasible and if the demand exists.
In addition to the camera, Lebedev has developed the Transparentius, a concept for a road safety system that would show the view of a camera at the front of a big rig truck through displays on the back doors of its cargo space. The technique would let drivers immediately behind the truck know if it's safe to pass or if a stop is coming up ahead.
