Viliv prepping N5 UMPC with Windows 7 for CES

Viliv N5 clamshell UMPC and S10 netbook soon

Viliv on Wednesday teased its plans for next month's CES with word it will introduce two devices at the Las Vegas show. The N5 will be its most advanced notebook-style UMPC and should pack a very dense 4.8-inch, 1024x600 screen along with 3G and GPS. Like competitors from UMID and others, it should serve as a full computer and run Windows 7, though whether it uses a Pine Trail Atom or an older but lower-powered model, like the 1.2GHz Atom Z515.

At the expo, Viliv also plans to show the S10, a more netbook-like design with a 10-inch multi-touch swiveling screen, a 1.3GHz Atom and Windows 7; it would use a 32GB solid-state drive in place of the usual rotating hard disk. It isn't known to have GPS but will have 3G as an option. Other devices on tap include the P3, an OLED touchscreen media player with both Android and Windows CE, and the HD5, a Windows CE-based video player with a 5-inch screen but support for 1080p video.

Launch info is more likely to be unveiled at CES, but it's not known whether Viliv will release the N5 or the other products directly into the US or else rely on an importer. [via UMPC Portal]
