ASUS Eee PC 1001P coming January 6th in Germany
The second EeePC from ASUS after the 1005p to use Intel's new-generation Pine Trail platform will soon be available, as indicated by a German Amazon listing. The 10.1-inch netbook uses the 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor, but other specs are similar to earlier Eee PCs. This means a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM and Windows XP in a package that weighs 2.4lbs. In contrast, the Eee PC 1005P ships with Windows 7 Starter Edition.
There is also a slim 4,400mAh battery which ASUS claims will last for up to 11 hours. There is a Wi-Fi connection but no Bluetooth, but three USB 2.0 ports and a memory card reader will be integrated. The product page also promises typical video inputs and outputs or the 1001P.
The Amazon pre-order page indicates ASUS will begin shipping the Eee PC 1001P on January 6th, with prices for either a white or black model set at the equivalent of $384. There is no word of a North American release, however. [via SlashGear]
