Palm announces paid webOS due in Europe

Palm announced over the weekend that it plans to begin offering paid apps for its webOS mobile platform in March. Palm is citing its success with the app program in the US, which resulted in 600 paid apps within two months. The Palm Pre smartphone, for which the apps would be created, is now sold in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany.

Palm also outlined detailed instructions for budding developers for the European market, urging them to send in information on the app, including intended pricing and contact information.

In the US, Palm recently reached a 1,000 app milestone.
