Source claims 200k Pres and 200k Pixis

Verizon Wireless has allegedly placed an order for 400,000 Palm devices, an unnamed source has told the Boy Genius Report. The order is claimed to be an even split between two devices, with 200,000 Pre smartphones and 200,000 Pixi handsets.

A separate report suggests Palm shipped a total of 600,000 Pixis through the last quarter. Verizon is allegedly holding back its launch until early this year, as the Pixi had failed to pass its initial testing.

Sources recently claimed Verizon will soon launch a Wi-Fi enabled Pixi Plus, along with the Pre Plus. Both updated devices allegedly feature the same outward appearance as their predecessors, with upgrades to the internal components.

Palm has scheduled a keynote event for CES on January 7th. The exact announcement remains unknown, although analysts expect formal introductions for the upgraded handsets and an update to webOS
