Update to be formally unveiled at CES
Sonic Solutions is set to introduce an update to its CinemaNow platform. Version 2.0 features a new storefront with contextual links that allow users to explore content related to a movie's studio, director, or actors. The interface will also provide recommendations for other movies, along with previews and trailers for upcoming titles.
The updated platform supports HD content, including streamed video and downloads, in resolutions up to 1080p. Sonic claims its technology is also ready for 3D content on computers or other consumer-electronics platforms.
Version 2.0 expands the range of options for interactive features paired with movies. Companies will be able to offer multiple chapter points with pop-up menus, multiple audio streams, subtitles, and other special features.
CinemaNow is compatible with a wide variety of devices such as PCs, connected TVs, Blu-ray players, DVRs, smartphones, among others. The company will formally preview v2.0 at CES this week.
