Capacities start at 8GB

Eye-Fi has announced a new model of SDHC card, the Eye-Fi Pro X2. Like other Eye-Fi cards, the X2 allows wireless transfer of photos and videos back to a computer, or else sharing websites such as Flickr, YouTube and SmugMug. New to the card are Class 6 read/write speeds, faster uploads through 802.11n, and better access range.

The company has also raised capacity from 4 to 8GB, and introduced an Endless Memory option, which automatically deletes files from a card once it confirms safe transfer and a user-determined size limit. The setting must be configured from Eye-Fi Center, an upcoming desktop application which also handles image browsing. An upgrade to Eye-Fi's earlier client software, it can now browse by date, display large previews, republish amongst sharing sites and create a batch from multiple sources.

The Pro X2 can be pre-ordered for $150. Eye-Fi Center is expected to be available for download later this month.
