Optoma outs medium resolution pico projectors
Optoma has recently announced the release of two new pico projectors with the PK-201 and PK-301. They share nearly identical specs, but both represent a marked improvement in performance and capabilities compared to the company's current PK-102 projector. The pair has the same 854x480 native resolution, and the PK-301 has a claimed class-leading 50 lumens of brightness when plugged in or powered by the optional auxiliary battery, which gives the device an extra two hours of life. Standard brightness for either is 20 lumens.
They also have a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, a microSDHC memory card slot and a mini HDMI input. There is a 3.5mm audio output, along with a 0.5W speaker. The PK-201 will be priced at $299, while the PK-301 will cost $399 when the two projectors launch in March.
