Device said to offer improved power management
ASUS has allegedly developed a Core i7-based notebook, the UL80JT, capable of 12-hour battery life, according to Ars Technica. The high-end notebook integrates two GPUs including a NVIDIA GeForce 310 and Intel GMA. Although dual GPUs are not uncommon, the ASUS system automatically switches between both components second-by-second instead of requiring the user to reboot or manually choose the correct mode.
The notebook also features a desktop widget which displays clocking for the 1.73GHz CPU. The combined efforts of several power-management methods are claimed to double the battery life compared to a unibody MacBook Pro.
The UL80JT is expected to ship later this year for $1000.
