Kodak, Samsung settle infringement fight

As promised, Kodak and Samsung have settled their long-running conflict by signing a cross-license agreement that will allow the companies to access each other's patent portfolio. Under the agreement, Samsung will pay royalties to Kodak, though the specifics of the amount were not disclosed. A payment made by Samsung in December will be credited towards the royalties.

The lawsuit was filed by Kodak back in November of 2008 against Samsung and LG, alleging that both infringed upon Kodak's techniques for capturing, compressing, previewing and storing photos and still images.

Kodak and Samsung will file requests to terminate the patent infringement issue with the US International Trade Commission, as well as their patent infringement lawsuits pending in the Western District of New York and in German courts. The ITC is expected to decide by the end of this month.
