Rumor suggests collaboration with retailer

A recent rumor suggests Sprint has collaborated with Walmart to install WiMAX towers atop retail outlets, an unnamed source has told AndroidGuys. The partnership is allegedly designed to help the carrier easily expand its WiMAX network, as the thousands of Walmart locations have been placed within a short distance of the majority of the US population.

The rumor also expects less zoning difficulties when placing the WiMAX towers on top of Walmart buildings. The move would be unlikely to remove all of the red tape, however, as many local governments will still require the companies to acquire permission for additional construction.

Although the Walmart rumor remains unconfirmed, AndroidGuys claims its source has previously provided accurate information.
