Apple posts Remote Desktop 3.3.2 updates

updated 09:20 am EST, Tue January 12, 2010

Separate client and admin releases

Apple has published twin updates for the Remote Desktop component of Mac OS X, bringing the software up to v3.3.2. The client update is a 4.21MB download, and makes several fixes to setup, distribution, asset management and the tool's main functions. Upgrading to v3.3.x will no longer reset client access privileges for instance, and the software should now properly report MacBook Air MAC addresses as well as several other pieces of data.

The update meanwhile improves aspects of remote networking such as cursor tracking, VNC/RealVNC support, and reliability when dealing with graphics technology such as dual monitors, dual graphics processors or clients using 1366x768 resolution. The client update requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or 10.5.7 and later.

The admin update is a 51.41MB download, and matches all of the tweaks to the client code, notably gaining reliability when authenticating new clients, or handling IP addresses and port changes for clients behind NAT technology. Requirements are identical to the client software.
