Kingston shows 30GB SSD boot drive

Last week at CES, Kingston introduced a new solid state drive meant to speed up the boot process with its SSDNow V Series 30GB Boot Drive. The 2.5-inch SSD has TRIM support for Windows 7 and is rated at 180MBps read speeds and 50MBps write speeds. It is meant to be used in conjunction with a traditional hard drive for the majority of the data storage, while the operating system and important applications are on the SSD.

The drive is also efficient, drawing 1.4W of power when reading and 1.7W when writing data. Its life expectancy is rated at 500,000 hours Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).

The 30GB SSDNow V Series will be priced at $110, though after a limited-time promotional rebate, the price will drop to $80. It will be on store shelves in February. [via SlashGear]
