T-Mobile's Nexus One upgrade price drops by $100

updated 10:35 pm EST, Thu January 14, 2010

Existing subscribers will pay $279 for the device

T-Mobile has allegedly changed its pricing policy for existing customers who purchase Google's Nexus One smartphone, according to TmoNews. Google currently offers the handset for $530 unlocked, or for $180 when subsidized through T-Mobile for new customers. Existing subscribers have been forced to pay $380 to get the phone, even with upgrade eligibility, although the carrier is said to be lowering the price by $100.

To help quell further criticism, T-Mobile will issue $100 refunds for any customers that paid $380 for the Nexus One. According to the leaked document, the pricing change is effective beginning Friday and the refunds will be issued within 14 business days.
