myTouch 3G Fender Edition official for Jan 20

T-Mobile as part of a confirmation of the myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition's January 20th ship date also confirmed that the phone will get Android 2.1 as an upgrade in the spring. In a unique spin, it will also come with a preloaded installer for doubleTwist to sync music from iTunes and other sources on a Mac or PC.

It's not yet mentioned if the regular myTouch will get Android 2.1, though its insides are the same and make an update very likely. The OS upgrade adds a faster browser, voice commands and better hardware 3D support among other changes.

The phone as it ships will still have the customizations revealed much earlier, including a 3.5mm headphone jack, a bundled 16GB microSDHC card and its namesake Fender guitar finish. It will also have a handful of newer touches, including preloaded Guitar: Solo and Music Light apps as well as songs from those who are appearing in current and future myTouch ads, like Eric Clapton and Wyclef Jean.

When it arrives in stores, the Fender model should cost slightly more than the stock version at $180 on a two-year contract.
