ASUS Eee Top to get next-gen GPU and Pine Trail
ASUS is planning a major redesign of the Eee Top that will make it one of the first systems to use NVIDIA's Ion 2 chipset. A leak of the Eee Top ET2010PNT shows that the new all-in-one will use the new graphics, which will also go under the GeForce G310 name. Like some rumors suggest, it would actually be a dedicated part with its own 512MB of memory and 16 visual processing cores.
The desktop PC would particularly benefit from the faster video, BlogEee says, as it would have a unique 20-inch, 2560x1600 display with multi-touch. Intel's Pine Trail platform would appropriately come along with a dual-core 1.66GHz Atom D510 providing the chief performance outside of graphics. It would support DisplayPort and VGA for a second display.
Some traits like storage, RAM and launch information are still unavailable, although the Ion 2 platform is unofficially due to be released before the end of March and will very likely be accompanied by the ASUS system or other computers on launch.
