Touch-only Droid coming soon
Motorola's just-launched MOTOROI is the root for what will become the Droid "tablet" in the US, SK Telecom senior VP Bae Joon-dong said Tuesday. Although launched first in China and Korea, the touchscreen-only Android phone is now expected to reach the US in March. The executive didn't say which network would carry it, though it's assumed Verizon is the main candidate.
Although the phone lacks a keyboard, it should in most ways be superior to the Droid as it will have an 8-megapixel camera and support 720p video playback, including through HDMI out. Similarly, it will have internal storage the Droid is missing by carrying 8GB inside in addition to the microSDHC slot. The 3.7-inch LCD, 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi should remain intact.
