Palm phones to keep their pricing
Verizon along with Palm tonight set the final pricing for the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. In step with predictions, the Pre Plus will cost the same $150 as its older Sprint counterpart when on a two-year Verizon plan. The Pixi Plus will cost $100 on the same terms but qualifies for a Buy One Get One deal that gives another Pixi Plus for free.
The carrier has also outlined the pricing strategy for the Palm Mobile Hotspot feature shown at the keynote: using a Pre Plus or Pixi Plus as a mobile access point for five other devices will add $40 to an existing plan and carries the same 5GB transfer cap and 5 cents per megabyte overage fees as a stand-alone 3G modem.
Both phones reach stores on the 25th and will ship with the current webOS version (1.3.5.1) onboard. The promised 1.4 firmware, which brings video recording and other improvements, isn't due until February. Flash 10 for the browser will also arrive separately.
