PS3 motion control delayed to get more games
Sony Japan today pushed back the launch of the PlayStation 3 motion controller to the fall. The company justified the move as giving developers more time to ready games for the Wii-like peripheral. Originally, it had been set to launch in the spring, but the absence of launch details or games at CES had called this into question.
The controller is unique among the techniques being tried by console designers as it revolves around an orb that gives it much more precision than the Wii remote. It can perceive depth, not just movement, and can use the position of the orb to put a virtual object in the player's hands when video is called for.
