Sony VAIO CW upgraded to Core i3, i5

Sony has updated its 14-inch VAIO CW series of notebooks to take advantage of Intel's new Core i3 and i5 mobile chips. Buyers can now pick up the PCs with either a 2.13GHz or 2.26GHz i3, or a 2.4GHz or 2.53GHz i5. Before this, the range was powered by a choice of either 2.2GHz or 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo processors.

Otherwise, specs include Windows 7 Home Premium preloaded onto the 320GB 5,400RPM stock hard drive but can configure it with a 7,200RPM version of the same capacity or a 5,400RPM 500GB drive. For video, choices bring either NVIDIA's GeForce 310M (Ion 2) with 256MB of RAM or else a GT 330M with 512MB of RAM. Only 2GB of RAM is standard, but it can option up to 8GB. A DVD burner is standard, while a Blu-ray drive is a choice. The CW series can be had in black, white, red, blue and pink.

Pricing ranges from $810 for the standard VAIO CW to $1,120 for the fully loaded version. [via Laptoping]
