ASUS releases live photos of DR-950 e-reader

The recently spotted DR-950 e-book reader from ASUS has shown up in the flesh on the company's Flickr page. The device has a 9-inch screen with a 1024x768 resolution and grayscale color reproduction. The photos do a good job of indicating how thin the device really is, at just over a third of an inch, and a little thinner than an iPhone 3G.

Specs remain unconfirmed, but should include Wi-Fi, HSDPA and WiMAX connection options. A USB port will let users transfer data onto the internal 2GB or 4GB storage space, while an SD card slot will add to that space. There is music playback support and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Otherwise, users will be able to read RSS feeds, while the device will also be capable of translating content and performing text-to-speech conversion. Formats the device can read include PDF, TXT, Audible, EPUB, HTML, MP3, JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP. The device is said to weigh 13 ounces.

Despite the new photos, there is still no indication of a price or release date.
