Internet radio beta coming to FiOS DVR on Tuesday

Starting Tuesday, Verizon FiOS TV subscribers will have access to 387 streaming Internet radio stations. The beta service uses Clear Channel's iHeartRadio software to access the stations, which are classified by genre and region. FiOS TV requires a PC to be connected to transcode video, which will allow users to type in URLs to stream MP3, WAV, WMA audio files. At the same time, it will also support ASX, WAX, WVX, PLS and M3U playlists.

At first, Internet radio will only be accessible using Verizon's Windows-based Media Manager, although a Mac OS X software update should be coming later this year. At the same time, Verizon also expects a FiOS TV Windows Mobile client. [via ZatzNotFunny]
