Archos 7 with Android due in Europe in March
Not one week after news of the Archos 5 MID receiving and update to Android 1.6, comes word of the portable electronics maker working on a 7-inch tablet with the open source operating system. Specs of the device have been released, and include an 8GB storage capacity paired with a microSD memory card slot. It will be compatible with Windows or Mac and Linux operating systems.
The screen resolution is set at 800x480 pixels, while a webcam is built into the device's frame. Supported video files include MPEG 1/2/4, WMV, FLV, AVI, RM, RMVB, MKV and MOV, while MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, FLAC, APE and AAC audio can be played back. Photo support includes JPEG, BMP and GIF. A built-in microphone will allow for voice recording, while TXT and LRC files can also be read on the screen.
The Archos 7 will otherwise be about 0.39in thick and have a built-in kickstand. It is said to arrive in Europe in March, priced at the equivalent of about $242 with tax already factored in. [via JKKMobile]
