BlackBerry Tour 9650 due soon, says RIM

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion announced on its Facebook page that the BlackBerry Tour 9650 is coming and RIM will soon have more official news on the device. The successor to the Tour, the device is expected to arrive this winter, with conflicting reports placing it for a spring or summer release. It has also been called the Tour 2 and Essex in the past.

Compared to the Tour, the 9650 has an optical trackpad instead of the less-than-reliable trackball and adds a Wi-Fi radio. Features such as the 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS and BlackBerry Maps should carry over from the Tour. Pricing remains unknown, but should be close to the Tour's $150 on-contract price tag.
