Windows Mobile 7 to need fast CPU
Mobile-review head Eldar Murtazin today claimed to have had early access to a Windows Mobile 7 device as well as Microsoft's minimum specs. The OS is described as having somewhat desktop-like behavior. However, the prototype but unnamed handset is relatively hungry: despite having a large 1,850mAh battery, it only lasts 6-7 hours on a charge.
Evgenij Pavlov of HTC Russia has reportedly provided the specifications and supports notions of Microsoft running a minimum chassis spec program to encourage fast devices. Any device would need to have a 1GHz processor, a 3.6-inch wide VGA (800x480) touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal storage. An accelerometer and a compass should also be required.
Murtazin didn't provide clues as to the release other than to say that the launch would be "soon." Multiple leaks have suggested this will involve a Mobile World Congress showing with finished phones arriving in late summer or early fall.
