Verizon to offer slotRadio+ microSD music cards

Verizon on Thursday announced it will begin offering slotRadio+ microSD memory cards preloaded with music and compatible with the majority of the BlackBerry smartphones it carries. SanDisk introduced the cards at last year's CES, and they hold 1,000 songs from artists topping the Billboard charts in various genres. In addition to the music, users will also get 4GB of free storage space on each card.

Users will need to download and install an app onto their BlackBerries to work with the slotRadio+ card, which will also allow them to connect to Verizon's V CAST Music service to buy the song or a related ringtone on the slotRadio+ card.

Verizon will offer a Billboard Hits card that has songs from current top artists in modern rock, dance and hip hop, Latin and country genres, as well as Billboard Decades that contains songs from the ’80s, the ’90s, classic rock and oldies.

The cards will begin shipping tomorrow, priced at $50 each, and are compatible with the Curve, Pearl, Pearl Flip, Storm, Storm2 and Tour.
