Cardo Systems intros scala rider G4 BT headset
Maker of Bluetooth communicator headsets Cardo Systems on Tuesday introduced its latest and most advanced product, the scala rider G4. The product is the first in Cardo's range and the industry to have up to a 1 mile range of bike-to-bike communication and is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones for both talk and music streaming. Bluetooth GPS units can also send spoken directions through to the scala rider G4.
There is also an integrated FM radio tuner with six station memory and voice activation for its many functions. It is also unique in that it offers intercom communication between up to three riders. Four individuals on two bikes can also freely converse together. It can pair with one Bluetooth device such as a phone and two other scala rider headsets at the same time.
The G4 can also interface with non Bluetooth-enabled MP3 players, GPS units and cell phones thanks to its 3.5mm audio jack. Volume is adjusted automatically based on ambient noise and speed. It is future-proof thanks to downloadable software updates.
The G4 is weather resistant and its lithium polymer battery is said to be good for 10 hours of talk time. It can fit into the majority of helmets and users can install it themselves. The headset is shipping now and carries a $280 price tag.

Terrible sound
The sound on the Scala headsets is TERRIBLE, barely fit for speech and worthless for music unless you're mostly deaf.
Are these new ones even A2DP?
