HP begins shipping EliteBook 8440, 8540

HP's top-of-line notebooks feature Core i5, i7
As reported previously, HP has begun shipping its updated Elitebook models, the 8440 and 8540. The base configuration for the 14-inch 8440p hinges on a 2.4GHz Core i5, 2GB DDR3 RAM, Intel's integrated graphics and a 250GB hard rive. The 15-inch 8540p upgrades to a 320GB drive and NVIDIA's Quadro NVS 5100M graphics.
HP is currently offering only preconfigured versions of each model, which can include the Core i7-620M 2.66 GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, and Quadro FX 880M graphics. All models also include double layer DVD writers, 2-megapixel webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1.
The base 8440p is priced at $979, while its larger 8540w cousin starts at $1,449. [via Engadget]
