Meizu: no plans to clone iPad

Meizu wants no trouble in shadowing Apple tablet

Meizu chief Jack Wong as quietly put down speculation that his company might produce a clone of Apple's iPad. Although the M8 was created as a direct response to the iPhone, Wong said he doesn't have the "slightest interest" in making a tablet version. He told fans that he would rather not "lose face" by creating such a design.

The M8 is technically based on Windows CE and could scale to larger sizes, though it would likely require much more software development. In order to achieve a more iPhone-like look and feel, Meizu had to heavily customize nearly all of the user interface and would have to do so again for a tablet. The company is also relatively small and, beyond the M8, is best known for iPod-like media players. [via DAPReview]

    NO face left!

He doesn't want to lose face since he has no face left!

He lost so much face by proclaiming "meh" at the iPhone introduction and claiming they could make a "cheaper, better" iPhone, then proceeded to release a more expensive, slower product a year after the iPhone.

    Oh puleeeze!

For a company whose claim to fame is based on the totally shameless copying of Apple products, this sudden preoccupation with losing face is quite hilarious.
