T-Mobile quietly drops BlackBerry Curve 8900

updated 11:55 am EST, Thu February 4, 2010

Device removed from smartphone list

Although the company has not made an announcement, T-Mobile no longer displays the Blackberry Curve 8900 as one of its available smartphones. T-Mobile introduced a similar handset, the Curve 8520, in August 2009 and may consider that the replacement. The wireless company recently cut prices on a number of its smartphones, including the Curve 8520, in a move to enhance its competitive stance.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 made its debut on the T-Mobile network in February of last year and provided many of the features of the BlackBerry Bold with the notable exception of 3G; the Bold 9700 now handles that role.
