Google Street View to get in-building looks
A New York City retailer today hinted that Google may be adding views from inside buildings to its Street View service. Staffers from the Manhattan store Oh Nuts say Google visited its shop to take photos for a service known as Google Store Views. It would not only display entire main interior but individual products as well.
The company officially declines to comment to Search Engine Land on whether Store Views will become a real service but admits it's "always experimenting with new features" for Google Maps.
It's implied that some locations in Google Street View will have an added level of zoom that will permit viewing inside stores and getting an impression of the goods they offer without having to visit in person. Such an addition would give new residents and tourists an opportunity to "explore" unfamiliar shops to make sure they have the right goods.
