Best Buy clearing current MacBook Pros from inventory?

Best Buy may be readying for new MBP models

A possibly last-minute slip hints that Apple may be close to updating the MacBook Pro line. One Best Buy employee notes that all MacBook Pro models have been deleted from the company's inventory system, preventing them from ordering new models. The systems can still be found but are listed as "deleted."

While the 17-inch model has been out of the system for some time, such sudden clearings of the entire lineup are often a sign Best Buy anticipates replacements from Apple. These are occasionally speculative, but they follow just after word of international resellers also running low on existing models.

Most expect the update will bring MacBook Pros based on Core i5 and i7 processors as well as newer generations of graphics, such as the NVIDIA GeForce 300M or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series.

    when?

I need to buy a new macBook Pro before mid-march. I really hope the new models would be available before that if they really are about to introduce them... I guess time will tell.

    When--I'd wait if you can

I would wait. Seems like they are getting close to a release, but I personally do not think that it will be by mid March. However, if you can do the work on the current line-up and do not need all of the power that will come in the next gen of MBP then buy it now, prices should drop and it's a proven design. If you decide to get the next gen, I'd wait to see if there are any bugs that need fixing--never liked the idea of being the first in my neighborhood to buy one--buy a iMac 27" lately? When I bought my 17" uMBP last year there were reports of some problems in the earlier production models that related to some firmware problems. It was corrected by the time mine shipped from China. What ever you decide--good luck--I luv my MBP--Mac user since '84-85.
