InFocus adds Mac OS X support for DisplayLink
InFocus on Monday announced that its DisplayLink Wireless system for connecting notebooks to projectors without wires now has support for the MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air notebooks and not just Windows, as before. The USB device relies on Ultra Wide Band (UWB) wireless technology from Wisair and can pass through HD video content as well as audio. Mac users will also now have the ability to control the projectors connected using the InFocus DisplayLink Wireless unit.
In order to attain the same level of connectivity before, MacBook users needed a mini-DisplayPort or mini-DVI to VGA adapter, a VGA cable for the projector and an audio cable. The adapter has a USB connection on both the projector and notebook end. An onboard Flash driver is preloaded to get it working without a separate software install, and there is 128-bit encryption built-in to prevent hijacking the signal. As with other UWB devices, the maximum range is about 30 feet; also, the adapter is only compatible with InFocus projectors.
The InFocus DisplayLink Wireless for MacBooks supports both Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6). It ships in March, with pricing likely to match the current product's $159 tag.

cool, but how many projectors use usb for video/au
this is really cool, but how many projectors would this work with? do all or most projectors allow a computer to connect via usb for the audio/video to be passed or does this only work for infocus brand projectors?
