Intel readying 1.33GHz ULV Core i7 for release

An unofficial report has Intel releasing a new ultra-low voltage Core i7 CPU this summer, the 660UM. The dual-core chip would produce a 1.33GHz clock speed but ramp up to 2.4GHz speeds when overclocked in Turbo Boost. When it arrives, it should supercede the 1.2GHz Core i7 640UM, support the same 800MHz DDR3 memory and consume the same 18W of total power as the slower model.

The integrated graphics will step down to as low as 166MHz to save energy but should operate at 500MHz at full speed. As part of the i7 family of chips, it should also have support for as many as four program threads and carry 4MB of Level 2 cache.

Other than the projected and approximate release date, no other information is yet known nor confirmed. [via Fudzilla]

    Overclocked or Underclocked?

Isn't is really a 2.4GHz chip being underclocked to 1.33GHz (AKA Intel SpeedStep technology, circa 2001?)
