New MacBook Pros likely

Apple has taken its online store down this morning in what is likely the first instance of a publicly available product update for this year. The company hasn't provided any clues of its own but does so after Best Buy deleted current MacBook Pros from its purchasable inventory, paving the way for new updates.

Leaks have pointed to at least a 2.66GHz Core i7 MacBook Pro being available, although it's assumed that some systems will also use Core i5. The new dual-core processors are potentially much faster than the existing Core 2 Duo as they can overclock when running single-threaded programs and can at times perform like quad-core processors through Intel's Hyperthreading.

    Ordering for iPads too?

I'm betting we can pre-order iPads too when the store comes alive.

What will be wrong with them?

[sarc] Oh I can't wait... what will the (unacknowledged) problem be this time? Dodgy screens, dodgy graphics chipsets, purple spots? Yet another new graphics connector? No USB ? What can Apple do to enflame the faithful? [/sarc]

Apple was merely waiting for FCC approval

on the iPads so maybe pre-orders will happen. Then the rumors will start about whether Apple's iPad is getting many pre-orders or not and analysts will calculate some guesswork numbers on whether the iPad will be an iSuccess or an iFlop.

I'm sure there'll be some bitching by the faithful if the new MacBook Pro doesn't offer USB 3. They hate paying extra for "old" technology.

    wow

How hard is it for Apple to update their web site that they need to take it down for two hours to update one minor product's pages?
