LG Cookie Plus gets 3G, social network support

LG on Wednesday released the Cookie Plus GS500 handset, an update of the hot-selling original Cookie. The biggest difference is the newfound 3G network support, along with custom software hooks for social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. The same touchscreen is host to a refreshed, animated user interface that contains widgets.

LG's LiveSquare app manages social networking contacts, and the handset otherwise has a built-in FM tuner, 3-megapixel camera. An Editable Screenshot MMS function lets users save images of a website they're visiting, edit them and send them out to contacts.

The LG Cookie Plus will ship in France and Italy starting in March, before being made available elsewhere in the world soon thereafter. Pricing hasn't been revealed, but is expected to be close to the original Cookie's near $230 unsubsidized price tag.
