Logitech releases Wireless Desktop MK710

Logitech on Wednesday claimed a first for computer input with the first three-year lifespan in a keyboard and mouse combo. Both of the peripherals in the Wireless Desktop MK710 use a particularly efficient new generation of the company's 2.4GHz RF adapter to get information across much more efficiently and to dynamically shut down the signal more often without taking long to resume. The USB receiver shares the same Unifying technology as other Logitech devices and can handle other peripherals.

The peripherals themselves are mid-range for Logitech and center on an ergonomic keyboard with a padded palm rest, curved keys and a row of media keys at the top; Windows users also get shortcuts to common tasks on the F-key row. The laser-tracking mouse is designed for right-handed use and carries the company's distinctive fast-spinning metal scroll wheel as well as five total buttons.

In a twist from Logitech's normal strategy, the MK710 will reach Europe first and ships this month. Americans will only get the combo in April, when it will cost $100.

    Three years!

Apple needs to hire a Logitech mouse engineer to sort out the appalling battery life of their "Magic" mouse.

    Bulky

That keyboard is huge! And you still give up a USB port for the RF thingie.

Will they make a version with Macintosh Command/Option/Control keys?

I hope revco and eldarkus are using rechargeable batteries!

    Dearest Logitech

Nobody wants your proprietary USB dongle that sticks out the side of my laptop precariously. Just switch to Bluetooth like everyone else please.
