May appear at Japanese CP+ trade show
Pentax Japan has added a teaser on its main page that indicates the digital version of the Pentax 645 is close to being unveiled. Pentax may make an official rollout at the upcoming Japanese CP+ industry trade show, which starts March 11. The 645D would be Pentax's first true medium-format digital camera.
The Pentax 645D has been highly anticipated since the company first mentioned it was developing the camera in 2007. The company has said previously that the digital model would be compatible with the lenses developed for the film-based version.
There has been no official statement regarding the camera's specifications but is expected to produce at least a 30-megapixel image, making it Pentax's sharpest camera ever. Pricing for the 645D has not been announced. [via 1001 Noisy Cameras]
