MS employee hints Win 8 will be major change
Microsoft plans to make its next version of Windows a major overhaul, an employee claimed in an MSDN blog that has been pulled but remains cached online. What most people refer to as Windows 8 will be something "completely different from what folks usually expect of Windows" and will have a broad consensus from the company. The company is depending on collaboration from "dozens and dozens of teams" to generate the final product.
A small hint in an interview with Microsoft's Consumer and Online Regional VP John Mangelaars also suggests Windows 8 will be "mind-blowing" compared to Windows 7, which Mangelaars believes compares well to Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Very little is known about what Windows 8 will entail other than its alleged July 2011 target date, though the advance of technology points to 64-bit code and multi-touch playing an even larger role than they do today. [via Microsoft Kitchen]
