LG Pop promises least expensive touch yet
After a European launch, LG today brought the GD510 Pop to North America through Rogers. The cellphone is likely the most inexpensive full touchscreen phone on the continent and provides a 3-inch display, a 3-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal storage. It trims costs mostly by dropping 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi.
The design is the same as for the international field and centers on a fairly unique edge-to-edge design with an extremely thin bezel and a single contextual button on the front that can answer or end a call as well as back out to a menu. Rogers hasn't said what if any software changes it will make of its own.
At Rogers, the Pop will cost just $20 on a three-year plan but is still inexpensive off-contract at $175; it should be available both online and at stores today.
