Sony Ericsson adds 3rd Symbian smartphone

Alongside the X10 mini, Sony Ericsson's other main launch at Mobile World Congress is another variant on a high-end smartphone, the Vivaz pro. It expands on the original with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard while still keeping the 720p video recording, 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi and most other features. The only clear sacrifice is a drop in camera resolution from 8 to 5 megapixels.

Moving to the new form factor also still leaves similar software, with a heavily customized version of Symbian S60 giving the phone slightly more advanced media playback and messaging. Sony Ericsson expects it to join the X10 mini and mini pro when they reach stores in spring, and notes that a version will ship with North America-ready 3G that should give most HSPA-based carriers the option of the Vivaz pro should they want it.
