TI intros smallest, thinnest DLP Pico chipset

Texas Instruments took the opportunity on Monday at Mobile World Congress to introduce a new DLP chipset for pico projectors, the nHD. TI is calling it the thinnest and smallest chip in production thus far. Specs include a 640x360 resolution and a contrast ratio that is said to be better than 1,000:1. The chipset is also said to have low power demands thanks to a newly developed processor.

TI also promises RGB LED lighting that provides a wide color gamut reproduction. The actual module is nearly a fifth smaller and more than half the volume than chipsets that have a larger 800x480 resolution.

Devises such as cellphones using the new TI nHD chip are expected to come to market this spring.
