HTC Hero models get most Legend features

Alongside new phones, HTC today also said it would upgrade the Hero and its Verizon sibling, the Droid Eris, to Android 2.1. It should bring all the core features of Google's OS, including the HTML5 web browser, and should also upgrade HTC's own Sense UI. Among other changes, this should bring a consolidated social network feed known as Friend Stream that pools Facebook, Flickr and Twitter updates together.

Some Sense UI features may not make the transition as they will depend on carriers and the particular region.

Asian and European customers will be the most likely to get the 2.1 update first, when it arrives between now and March. North American updates weren't given a timetable and will depend on when Cellular South, Sprint, Telus and Verizon feel they can upgrade their respective models.
