MSI brings new CR series notebooks stateside

MSI adds four CR-series notebooks to the US
PC maker MSI on Tuesday announced that four new Classic Series notebooks are being introduced to the North American market. This includes the 16-inch CR600 and three variations of the 15.6-inch CR620. All models ship with Windows 7 Home Premium, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera and six-cell batteries. The CR600 as the entry model gets a 2.3GHz dual-core Pentium CPU and 3GB of RAM, along with a GeForce 8200M G graphics chipset.
The three CR620s share 4GB of RAM, the same 15.6-inch display with 1366x768 resolution, and 4-in-1 card readers. The two entry-level CR620s have the same 2.13GHz Core i3 CPU and 320GB hard drive that also comes with the CR600; unusually, they scale back to slower Intel graphics instead of the NVIDIA option on the base unit. The middle model gets a Blu-ray drive, while all others have a dual-layer DVD burner. The most powerful CR620 has a 2.26GHz Core i5 CPU and a larger 500GB hard drive.
Expansion on all includes the same ExpressCard slot, VGA, HDMI, trio of USB ports and Ethernet. All four new CR models weigh just under 5.5lbs.
The CR600 costs $530 while the CR620 $650 in base trim, $730 with the Blu-ray drive or $750 for the i5-powered model. All four are available today.
