Palm would make awaited return with Pixi variant
Palm could make a long overdue return to T-Mobile in the near future, a reported insider said today. The cell network is believed to be in the "final stages" of hashing out its launch plans and would start off by carrying a device much like the Pixi. Whether it's a GSM Pixi Plus or a new variant altogether isn't mentioned in the BGR tip.
The smartphone builder is known to be readying a Pre for AT&T but hasn't provided any clues of any T-Mobile devices. Palm, however, has signaled that it's eager to provide its phones for more networks than just Sprint and Verizon. When this could arrive is equally uncertain, although the CTIA event in late March is a possible avenue for any US-specific Palm unveilings.
At the same time, Verizon has quietly cut the price of the Pixi Plus today from $100 to $80 through at least its online store. The cut drops below Sprint's price and comes alongside an expanded Buy One Get One promo that lets those buying any Android or webOS phone get a free second device using either OS.
