Network exploring links with Adobe

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is diving headlong into iPad development, says the Sydney Morning Herald. The network is said to be speaking with various technology companies for help, with the aim of bringing apps to the tablet sometime this year. No specific titles have been announced, but much like the CBC in Canada and BBC in the UK, the ABC has assets in radio, TV and the web.

One of the firms contacted about apps is Adobe, with which the ABC is said to seeking a relationship similar to that held by Wired. The Wired iPad app is based on a translation of AIR/Flash code into a iPhone OS-compatible format, and the magazine is moreover able to convert InDesign layouts normally intended for print. The ABC is likely seeking early access to tools in Creative Suite 5, due sometime this spring.
