Samsung U20 and U15 bring design overhaul
As part of its updates for PMA, Samsung on Saturday added two new U series pocket camcorders. The HMX-U15 and U20 together both have a new look that also hints at new features compared to the U10: either now shoots at 1080p and carries a built-in USB port to connect to a computer without a USB cable, much like a Flip. In a very rare move for the class, the U20 also brings 3X optical zoom to close in without sacrificing image quality.
The two both use low-light-sensitive 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensors with software image stabilization, time lapse photography modes and 2-inch preview LCDs. Other than the lens, the two are separated only by still image size, as the U15 makes up for its lack of zoom by shooting 14-megapixel photos versus the U20's 10 megapixels.
Like other cameras launching today, both Samsung camcorders are due in spring and get prices of $230 for the U15 and $250 for the U20.
