Habey launches Atom-based fanless PC

Ideal for kiosk, digital signage uses

Habey introduced a new ultra-compact PC based on Intel's embedded Atom platform, the BIS-6620. In addition to being small with a 4.5 square-inch footprint and a 1.5-inch height, the PC is considered very green with a total power consumption of only 5.5W. The fanless system uses the low power 1.1GHz Atom Z510 CPU and Intel GMA 500 graphics, giving it basic 3D graphics and full hardware acceleration capabilities. The company says the PC is intended for HD media playback in kiosks or other any other situation where space is tightly constrained.

The BIS-6620 comes in two versions, both of which feature either one 1.8-inch SATA HDD or SSD drive with a micro-SATA connection and one hot-swap internal standard SATA II port and up to 2GB RAM. Expandability includes built-in CF and SD card readers. Networking is handled by a gigabit Ethernet port. The two versions differ chiefly by video output and peripheral support. The BIS-6620-I has a standard VGA out and two additional USB ports; the BIS-6620-II provides a 4X COM port and video through a DVI-D connection. The BIS-6620-II also makes an optional Wi-Fi upgrade available.

The BIS-6620 runs either Windows (XP Embedded, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7) or Linux. Habey won't limit it to professionals and says its suggested price is $299.
