LG launches two ultraportables in Korea

LG on Monday formally rolled out two ultralight XNOTE PCs in its home country of Korea. Topping these, the T280 is one of LG's first CULV-based notebooks and fits either a 1.3GHz Pentium dual-core or Core 2 Duo underneath a 11.6-inch display. LG doesn't supply battery life claims to match the low-voltage processors, but it does promise a relatively light 3.06-pound weight and a 1.2-inch or thinner profile.

Either of the two processor choices comes with 2GB of RAM, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Intel's GMA 4500 for graphics. The choice of processor only dictates hard drive space, as the Pentium version comes with a 320GB hard drive where the Core 2 Duo model gets a 500GB disk. In Korea, these versions will cost the equivalents of $990 and $1,094; no word has been given as to whether they will reach the US.

The X200 is a more conventional netbook but centers on a new look with a very rounded design and 'chiclet' keys. It's also one of LG's few Pine Trail-based models and runs on a 1.66GHz Atom, 1GB of RAM and Intel's on-chip GMA 3150 graphics. Like the base T280, it also carries a 250GB hard drive and 802.11n Wi-Fi. The 2.7-pound system will go on sale in Korea for the equivalent of $642; an American release is more likely as the X200 recently passed through the FCC.
